Overview
Focus Demolition was tasked with removal of the footbridge and platform at the East Perth Train Station as part of the wider Optus Stadium project and East Perth train station upgrades.
The pedestrian foot bridge was in a live train station at the time of demolition, having to be completed over a 76 hour shutdown period. With this short time frame in mind, works were programmed by the hour with absolutely no margin for error.
Results
The 17 bridge sections comprising of piers and footings were safely removed ahead of schedule with no damage to rail infrastructure.
This allowed our client, Laing O’Rourke to complete follow-on works for their client, the Public Transport Authority, and have an eventual successful outcome for all parties involved including an updated train station for the local community.
