Overview
Focus Demolition was contracted to complete the decontamination and site clean-up of a residential block in Kalgoorlie, which was contaminated with heavy metals such as arsenic and mercury. The project required a quick turnaround due to the site’s proximity to a primary school, which needed to reopen as soon as possible.
We worked in close collaboration with multiple stakeholders, including an Environmental Consultant, the Department of Water and Environmental Regulation (DWER), the Department of Education, and the Shire of Kalgoorlie to develop a comprehensive remediation plan that addressed the unique challenges posed by the site’s location and contamination levels.
To ensure the school could reopen on time, our team worked tirelessly on an accelerated schedule. We implemented stringent safety measures and used specialised equipment and techniques to efficiently remove and dispose of the contaminated soil, ensuring that the site was thoroughly decontaminated and safe for future use.
Results
Despite the tight timeline, we maintained our unwavering commitment to quality and safety, completing the project on schedule and to the satisfaction of all stakeholders involved.
