Overview

Focus Demolition successfully completed the full demolition of a redundant Enhance Sands structure located within a live plant area at the Worsley Mine Site for our client, South32. The 26-metre-high steel structure housed unused Jorde filters, which our team carefully removed and repurposed in line with our commitment to sustainable practices and waste reduction.

Infrastructure Demolition

To ensure a safe and controlled demolition process, we employed a combination of crane-assisted dismantling for the upper portions of the structure (26-15 meters) and mechanical shearing using a 50-tonne excavator for the lower sections down to ground level.

Results

One of the key challenges of this project was executing the demolition within a live plant environment. Our experienced team successfully navigated this challenge, completing the project with zero interruptions to the ongoing plant operations, while also delivering the project on time and within budget.
